FiinRatings presentation at The Credit Rating Industry Workshop in Vietnam organized by the Ministry of Finance and ADB

HCMC April 23, 2024, The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia), organized a seminar titled "Vietnam Credit Rating Market: Direction and Development Potential”. Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, CEO of FiinRatings, shared insights on the following topics at the seminar.

HCMC April 23, 2024, The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia), organized a seminar titled "Vietnam Credit Rating Market: Direction and Development Potential”.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, CEO of FiinRatings, shared insights on the following topics at the seminar:

• Updates on the Vietnamese corporate bond market
• Overview of credit rating activities in Vietnam
• Note to investors and related service providers
• Recommendations to develop a credit rating culture in Vietnam.

The seminar also featured contributions from international experts on establishing standards and regulations for monitoring the quality of credit rating agencies. This included issues such as establishing internal control systems, separating professional activities from commercial activities, and enhancing the role of compliance and risk control departments to prevent "Ratings Shopping”.

Speakers at the seminar included representatives from the Finance and Banking Division of the Ministry of Finance; Mr. Michael Wu, Senior Director of the Financial Institutions Group for Asia-Pacific at Mizuho Bank; Mr. Michael Foley, Deputy President of Moody’s Corporation, Asia-Pacific Region; and representatives from VIS Rating.

The seminar welcomed over 100 invitees from investment institutions, commercial banks, issuing companies, and capital advisory/arranging units.
