A Beneficial Owner (BO) is defined as an individual who directly or indirectly owns or controls an enterprise. However, this definition does not include representatives of state ownership in wholly state-owned enterprises or state capital representatives in joint-stock or multi-member limited liability companies.

Accordingly, enterprises are now required to declare and disclose ownership information with full transparency. This is not just a compliance obligation but also a significant step forward in aligning Vietnam with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and strengthening the integrity of the business ecosystem.
