Syngenta Vietnam has been awarded the Enterprise for the Community title at the Saigon Times CSR 2024 by the Saigon Times.
The prestigious title acknowledges Syngenta’s comprehensive contributions to sustainable agriculture, supporting farmers’ livelihoods and enhancing the quality of life in rural communities.
Head of Business Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Syngenta Vietnam Nguyễn Thanh Tuấn said: “This award is a testament to Syngenta’s enduring efforts to contribute to sustainable community and social development.
"Through our comprehensive CSR initiatives, we not only foster sustainable agricultural growth in Việt Nam, enhance prosperity and empower rural communities but also protect the environment, creating shared value for society and paving the way for a sustainable future for generations to come.”
With the theme 'Invest in a sustainable future', Saigon Times CSR 2024 marks its sixth year of celebrating companies that spread positive values throughout the community. Building on the success of previous years, the programme recognised 40 pioneering enterprises contributing significantly to sustainable development, establishing a solid foundation for the future of local communities.
The theme also aligns with Syngenta’s commitment to sustainable agriculture worldwide through its four global sustainability priorities: higher yields, lower impacts; regenerate soil and nature; improve rural prosperity; and sustainable operations.
In Việt Nam, Syngenta supports these four priorities through various sustainable projects with partners and corporate social responsibility programmes. These initiatives support rural communities in improving their quality of life and aim to foster sustainable agriculture, contributing to the company’s global sustainability goals.
With strong efforts to promote agricultural sustainability, Syngenta collaborates with various partners to implement sustainable projects focused on key crops such as coffee, rice, and potatoes. These projects aim to protect farmland, help biodiversity flourish, add value to agricultural products and promote domestic consumption and exports while helping to increase farmers’ incomes and contribute to the sustainability of agriculture.
Since 2010, Syngenta has implemented the 'Houses for Farmers' programme in collaboration with local authorities to support the construction or renovation of housing for disadvantaged families. The programme also provides farming knowledge and techniques to help them improve productivity, increase income, and escape poverty. To date, it has donated 160 houses worth VNĐ8 billion to poor farmers in 40 provinces. — VNS
