Some keynotes shared by FiinRatings’s representative include:
-
Upgrade of Vietnam Securities Market to Emerging Markets Classification: Vietnamese government and related line ministries have been taking very aggressive actions recently for the upgrade. The upgrade to Emerging Market classification would be an great opportunity for not only for investors but also for long-term capital mobilisation by Vietnamese enterprises.
-
Vietnam Sovereign Credit Rating by International Credit Rating Agencies: VietnamVietnam is currently at BB+ by S&P Global Ratings and also still non-investment grade by other international credit rating agencies. It is the objective of Vietnamese government to be upgraded to investment grade at BBB by 2030. It is the view from FiinRatings that Vietnam can have a fast track to achieve it sooner if the government is taking more aggressive approach in this consideration. The upgrade in the national rating would be much more financially beneficial to reduce the cost of capital for both government debt management and corporate debt financing.
-
Outlook for monetary policy and exchange rate: FiinRatings provides insights into the measures being taken by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to deal with FX control in order to support foreign investments and capital flowsbeing taken ) to deal with FX control in order to support foreign investments and capital flows.
-
Asset/capital recycling program: Vietnam currently lacks an asset/capital recycling program to invest in priority sectors, particularly infrastructure. The sub-sovereign funds and the Vietnam public pension fund have limited scale and investment options.
-
Sectors to watch: Consumerism, sustainable infrastructure, and the financial services sector.
